Naming Sides Correctly
Before we begin our first activity, it is vital to know how to name the sides of any right triangle according to it reference angle. The reference angle is denoted by the symbol "θ", called theta. The hypotenuse is the side across from the right angle and it is the longest side in the triangle. The opposite side is the side across from the reference angle provided.The adjacent side is the side next to the reference angle that is not the hypotenuse. See image below.
